Emily

Emily is a journalist and her favorite book is Treasure Island. She has been struggling with depression and anxiety for most of her life.

"This is what it is, and now we get to figure out how to deal with it."

Destiny

"I’m a human being just like everyone else. We’ve all got issues."

Destiny is a certified nursing assistant currently studying to become a nurse. She has taken medication for depression and anxiety since she was 12 years old.

Levi

"It helps to talk about it."

Levi is a proud dad of three kids and makes it a point to teach them that people can change. Levi first tried drugs when he was 12. By 22, he was abusing drugs. He’s been sober for the past two years.

Richard

"If you cultivate compassion within yourself then you find compassion for others."

Richard loves the Gorge and is proud to call our beautiful community his home. He struggled with alcoholism for four decades of his life but has been sober for the past nine years. He believes that helping others begins with the simple act of listening.

Jerry

"Let’s just talk about what’s going on it our lives."

Jerry was born and raised in the Gorge. His journey with substance abuse started at 18, soon after losing a good friend, when he began self-medicating with alcohol to numb the pain. He reminds us of the power that community has in our healing.

Shannon

Shannon is a behavioral health case manager at One Community Health and loves doing yoga. She was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety in second grade.
